Setup integrated LDAP authentication

.

LDAP Integration

Advantages

Cyn.in 3.x has in-built support for authenticating against most LDAP servers. This adds several advantages to the Cyn.in setup:

  1. Single Sign On: Your users don't have to remember and manage separate user accounts on all the systems
  2. Express User and Groups setup: All users are automatically imported and synchronized, you don't have to create a single user on your Cyn.in once you setup your integration. You can map groups as well as users to the LDAP directory and then assign security roles to the groups at the Space level.
  3. Schema mapping: Cyn.in even supports LDAP schema attribute mapping - so you can setup mapping for your user's profile fields, as appropriate.
  4. Read-Only integration: It is possible to setup read-only integration so there's no chance that anything or anyone will be able to modify your central directory's user information.

Is there anyone who has integrated cyn.in with the Zimbra ldap server? I'm looking for a how-to for this.

From what i know of Zimbra LDAP server is that it is a directory service running a version of the OpenLDAP software that has the Zimbra schema already installed. Instructions should be similar to the microsoft-active-directory-services-integration but will have different setup screens and steps and so on. please check http://www.cynapse.com/comm[…]ectory-services-integration

Thanks Viraf, those instructions worked. I've got been able to configure authentication with the email addresses stored in Zimbra (which for me is preferred to uid).

Great !!! Do give your feedback on the changes that you might have had to do which are specific to the Zimbra LDAP Server, so that we can incorporate the same in the documentation

I will play with it first to see if I can map everything properly (don't have ldap groups setup yet). Once that is done I will create a how-to.

I will have to integrate Cyn.in 3.1.3 with OpenLDAP on Debian ;)

Hello,

Edwing, can you tell us how you have setup Cyn.on to work with Zimbra ?

Best regards,

You can try and use either of the instructions.
http://www.cynapse.com/comm[…]ectory-services-integration

or

the one recently created by @macagua for openldap here. http://www.cynapse.com/[…]/view

If you manage to use either of the instructions successfully do contribute back a How-to specific for other zImbra users.

Hello,

I don't use Zimbra but for me it will be a good example. Because I'm using Kolab with Openldap too.

I want only use the auth, other things (groups...) will be support by Cyn.in

So if someone can help me it will be nice ! :)
