Last question for today :) :

Is some kind of PDF export for wiki pages planned? That would be handy.

Rschwanke: Find it strange that I can just write in the name of someone else. Sorry dude for abusing you ;)

Yeah, it would really be cool! :)

Not currently planned though - haven't had the opportunity to do any deep effort estimate on it, yet. :(

Are there any existing plone products or libraries that do this or similar? Tried any? This would basically involve transcoding the Wiki page HTML on the Cyn.in server-side to PDF - Open Office running headless on the server as a daemon comes to my mind, but the dependencies on getting that working straight off from the Cyn.in ISO CD would probably be non-trivial.

One other possibility that we've been thinking of investigating is to improve the print CSS output (hide all navigation, application UI, etc., and show only the Wiki page content) so that people can print the page to PDF (or whatever else they want, including plain-old-regular-paper!) from the document actions links.

1. Improve the CSS printing output would definitely the first task to do. Printing looks awful ATM - some beautifying would be great. :)

2. After that, output can be given to http://plone.org/products/plone2pdf There's no OOo needed. What about this one? I would test it, but my knowledge of plone is too limited ATM.

Hmm.. plone2pdf is using pisa (which used to be known as xhtml2pdf once upon a time). Have been wanting to try that out for a while, now. Dependency hell it is not, definitely, when you compare it with the OOo. :)

I wonder about the quality of the output, though. Will try it out and update.

Great! Looking forward to it.

Talking about wiki pages and exportation would be nice to have rst (restructured text) as a backend format for storage of the pages and exportation/render on other formats as html and pdf. May be not at the moment (as far as I know kupu only storage in html) but may be in the future. By the way, thanks for html2pdf and pisa: really cool projects :-)

Yeah. Still haven't gotten to trying pisa out. Soon. :(

Regarding restructured text, markdown, etc. There actually could be a way of enabling this, just from playing with the HTML markup, input and other input settings configlets in Control Panel. We disabled this really long ago in Cyn.in, like in the first initial versions - but it's just settings, really. I wouldn't experiment with them in a production system, but no harm in trying on your test/devel box. Make sure that things like default flow of creating Wiki pages, and normal Kupu behavior works properly though, this is critical for your normal users who don't know how to write restructured text, markdown, etc.

This is a very old thread. But i really need this feature. How can we get together to make this feature realize?
