Four questions:
1. How can I delete an item i added (like the blogpost)?
2. Is it possible to have the description of for example a blog article appear in the overview on the frontpage?
3. Is het possible to show a picture of the user who added the item in the overview on the frontpage?
4. Is it possible to get a list in the right column of only the logged in users?
and one added question: why doesn't my question appear in the overview, while other questions do?

Hello Edith,

Below are responses to your questions:
1. How can I delete an item i added (like the blogpost)?
A. Delete is not available to all users in a space. Only the space manager (user with edit role in a space) or the siteadmin can delete content.

2. Is it possible to have the description of for example a blog article appear in the overview on the frontpage?
A. No.

3. Is het possible to show a picture of the user who added the item in the overview on the frontpage?
A. The name of the user who created the item is visible next to it. You can click on the user to see a quick infocard of the user with links to their profile. The activity stream provides the image of the user along with the content created.

4. Is it possible to get a list in the right column of only the logged in users?
A. No. You can only get a list of the recently active users in the community.

I hope this helps. Please do throw some light on what you would like to achieve with Cyn.in. This would help us give you more ideas on how you can best implement it.

Tip: You can use the Static Text portlet in the dashboard to display rich content like links to important blog posts in your site etc.

Your question not appearing in the main dashboard is a known issue, more details here: http://www.cynapse.com/[…]/discussion.2010-05-06.6215098581

Hai Romasha,
Thanks for your answers. Just reading them now, as I should have subscribed to the email notification.

We want to use cyn.in for our intranet (small non-profit organisation, 25 people). For this we want to use a lot of the possibilities of cyn.in and I like it a lot. But: for the dashboard we would prefer to have the overview of latest items with a little bit more information, so the users can get more triggered by the content of the message. Only the title doesn't give enough information most of the times.

I thought I have seen a screen shot of this in one of the instruction pages, where it was setup the way I would prefer. I will try to find it.

Romasha,
I meant this lay-out example:

I really like the way the items show. Is it an older setup of cyn.in?

Edith,

Your idea for having some more descriptive content in the dashboard is quite interesting. It can definitely help in increasing user adoption. I'd recommend you add this as a feature request in the ODN... this can then be included in a future version of Cyn.in - http://odn.cynapse.com/projects/cynin {The Cynapse community login will work}

Yes, the screenshot is of an older version of Cyn.in's Activity Stream.

The current version of the activity stream, also shows the title of the item, with its description and comments if any. Users can directly add their comments from the stream itself. If you would like your users to land on the Activity Stream instead of the dashboard, you can easily do that from the "Customize" interface under "Manage Space".

If you face any other issues in your Cyn.in implementation, feel free to post them here. A Cynapse team member will surely help you out.
