Hi,

It seems like the cyn.in specific templates are not internationalized. Are there any plans for i18n in future releases?

Regards,
Petter

Hi Petter,

Yes, while Plone supports nearly all of the most prominent languages, the cyn.in templates are only having English language strings. Due to time and resource constraints we have not been able to use the i18n tranlation mechanism yet. :(

But yes, there are definitely plans for adding i18n support, if we're lucky (if there are no big roadblocks for it) language translation mechanism will be in place for this release (v2.2). If not, then definitely in the release after that language translations should be present.

I will be looking for volunteers for helping out with the translation to all the languages we're supporting when we are capable to use it. Do tell us what language you can help out with if you're interested in assisting us.

Regards,
Dhiraj Gupta.

I can help you out with the norwegian po files when the templates and python scripts have been internationalized. You can use the i18ndude tool for the internationalization work.

Petter

Thanks! That'll be great - will get in touch with you when we're doing the translations.

Yes, we intend to use the i18ndude tool, it's quite nice.

Hi nice day :D

I am Leonardo Caballero [0], I'm from Mérida [2], Venezuela [1] and i am hard working in the support the i10n and generating the l10n because i hope to use cyn.in in some social projects.

A draw of i18n and l10n translation mechanism

During the development process, the developers may add new i18n labels. What the development team does in this case:

1) Add the labels in Module.pot or Module-plone.pot
2) To use i18ndude for adding the label to ALL related po files. like this bellow example

macagua@canaima:~/cyn2_1_source_snapshot/src/ubify.viewlets/ubify/viewlets/$ i18ndude rebuild-pot --pot i18n/generated.pot --create ubify.viewlets ./browser/templates/

3) Yours can provide translations for English and another language.
4) Every team/person responsible for other languages (for example I am for L10n in Spanish) must update his po file(s).

macagua@canaima:~/cyn2_1_source_snapshot/src/ubify.viewlets/ubify/viewlets/i18n$ i18ndude sync --pot generated.pot ubify.viewlets-es.po

5) Submit at Core Developer the chances in a .diff file or submit a commint a something SVN o CVS.

This is the concurrent version but now no is finished [4], all are invited to participate in this site

Some screenshot for the l10n in this url [5], I was translated in Spanish PloneSlimbox, CMFSquidTool, CMFNotification, Calendaring and submitted at their own SVN copy in Plone Collective Repository, also you can check in this site the po file [3]

I have some questions for you

1) How can supply the translation and chances of the templates to the project?
2) Is there any means or process for that?

Hi macagua,

Awesome work on this!

I checked out the screenshots and the pootle site. Could you zip up the updated ubify.viewlets folder and send it to devel at cynapse so that we can incorporate it? That way we'll be able to sync up the i18n attributes on the template's tags in our current HEAD.

Really amazing work you've done, I'd like to hear more about the social projects you're looking at implementing cyn.in for. Drop a mail in to devel at cynapse and we'll collaborate together on these if possible.

Thanks for adopting cyn.in,
Regards,
Dhiraj Gupta.

Hi Dhiraj

Thanks for your comments, i hope this weekend to finished the i18n for ubify.viewlets module and them i will send you the zip file...

My team and I [1] we decided to use Plone and Zope as a platform for the development of new components that respond to demands for adequate solutions to the political needs of my nation, these changes aim to allow participation of citizens in the decisions in their locality.

A case study is the "Red Popular para la Defensa del Abastecimiento de Bienes de Primera Necesidad" [2], which seeks to provide an organizational strategy to promote social activism of local communities and the technological part of last fall tied to that social practice organized and where it sees "technology as a means of" the social interactions and "not the end".

For this we have designed a building to serve as a tool for discussion and decision making with respect to the current problem of shortage of food in the locality, the idea is to create a social network in this area and for this we have developed some modules that are being tested for the management of food establishments that sell these products (based on Archetypes) among other features to support these governance processes...
