Authentication problem when accessing through Apache and Squid

I'm having an authentication problem when I try to create spaces on an instance being served behind apache and squid. Whenever I try to create a space, I get the following error:

Insufficient Privileges
You do not have sufficient privileges to view this page. If you believe you are receiving this message in error, contact the site administration.

The address bar also reads like this:

http://www.mysite.com/[…]/atct_edit

Whenever I create a space by going through Zope/Plone (www.mysite.com:8080/cynin) that works fine. Also, this only happens when creating new spaces (within home, or within other spaces). I can create content within the spaces just fine.

I did some general research to see if it was a Plone issue. But I found nothing conclusive. Any ideas on what may be causing this?

Can you cut and paste your Apache Rewrite rules, it sounds like that is the most likely place that there would be an issue. This might be a good time to switch to varnish BTW.

Turns out the problem was Apache, not squid. I was using a buildout recipe (plone.recipe.apache) to deploy apache with squid. Changed it recently to do a standard apache install and this fixed a bunch of stuff including this problem.
